Update, 4PM
Since posting earlier today the forecast has changed and the chance of precipitation is now only 20%.  We are watching the changing forecast and will make a decision later. Please follow updates on the Facebook page, and on this blog.
NEVER WALK BEEKMAN ROAD AT NIGHT IF THE ROAD IS NOT CLOSED - IT IS NOT SAFE!!!

The forecast for today, April 1, 2016:
This Afternoon
Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. High near 77. Southwest wind around 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight
Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a slight chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. West wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Good conditions for salamanders to migrate to the vernal pools so we asked the police to close the road this evening for safe crossing of amphibians.Beekman road will be closed at 7pm today.

If you come to the road, EVERYONE (Children included) MUST have their OWN flashlight.
  • Please be aware that Church Lane is very dark and cars move at fast speeds. Use extreme caution when parking or crossing the road and especially be watchful of your children.
  •  Do not touch salamanders or frogs!
Our hands have natural oils and chemicals from soap and other things we've touched  that can harm amphibian sensitive skin.
Amphibians are also very slippery and can be easily hurt if dropped. It's is best to just watch them cross and enjoy the way they move.
